GENERAL INFORMATION

Nowadays there are more and more flights to Australia and the prices still keep reasonable, around AU$2000 all taxes included.

Australie is around a 24 hour flight but it doesn’t feel so long since most planes are very well equipped with individual TV screens and a wide range of films, games and musical channels for all tastes. Morover the flights are broken with a stopover either in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Hongkong that enables you to stretch your legs and consider duty free shopping!!!

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR FLIGHT FROM YOUR HOME COUNTRY

You can find special offers to go to Australia all the time but it can take you quite a long time to check every single airline company!! We therefore recommend you to use the services of a travel agency specialized in Australia: the agents know the destination very well and know of all the best offers and tips!!

Before rushing to buy your airline ticket, be aware of the peak and low seasons: prices can double from June till end of August and from end of November till early January!!

Flights to Sydney and Melbourne are generally cheaper: add at least an extra AU$ 500 for Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns…

If you are a student visa holder and wish to stay over one year, you can enter Australia on a single ticket (Not possible for tourist visa holders)

TRAVEL INSIDE AUSTRALIA

Australia is a huge island so when you organize a round trip, calculate correctly, distances are very deceiving!!! You don’t need to book any domestic trip from your home country, it will be cheaper to organize everything in Australia! There are specialized travel agencies for young travelers that offer interesting, affordable and active packages. They are called backpacker centers!!

Budget hostels or Backpacker accommodation are a very convenient option, cheap and you don’t need to book in advance unless in peak season (Please refer to our section Accommodation for more details)

Thanks to the airline Virgin Blue that launched a very strong price competition campaign against Qantas on the domestic flight market, you don’t need to suffer long hours in buses and trains any longer!! At least one month before traveling, check online which airline company, Qantas, Virgin Blue or Jetstar, offers the best tariffs and book straight away directly online, otherwise if you book at the latest minute, the costs will be far higher!!
You will then receive a confirmation by email (this is your e-ticket) with a reference number to print and used as a receipt.
