You have been in Australia for some time now and your visa (tourist, working holiday or student) is about to expire. However, you don't want to go back home! In this case, you have a few great options to stay longer in Australia.

TOURIST VISA

If you plan to stay longer in Australia and you do not need to work, you can apply for a Tourist Visa directly in Australia without leaving the country.  It will cost you around $255 and you will have to provide extra documentation. The information are on this website.

Please remember that you are not allowed to work on a tourist visa and that you may have a “no further stay” notification after your Tourist Visa is granted.

2nd WORKING HOLIDAY VISA (WHV)

If you have been working for 3 months in the field of plant or animal cultivation, fishing or pearling, tree farming and felling, mining, construction or fruit picking in regional Australia, you might be eligible for a 2^nd working holiday visa and stay longer in Australia!

If you apply for a 2^nd Working Holiday Visa in order to stay longer in Australia, please do not forget that you need to have health insurance. STUDENT VISA: stay longer in Australia

The Student Visa is the most convenient and quickest option for staying longer in Australia with permission to work. It is a temporary visa that may allow you to later apply for sponsorship or a de facto visa if you meet with the requirements. 

To stay longer in Australia on a Student Visa is a small investment considering that you will graduate with a nationally and internationally recognized qualification and have a permission to work that allows you to keep your present job or to apply for a job. All domain of studies are offered  and we can help you find courses adapted to your profile and budget within accredited and reliable institutions around Australia.  Courses in the areas of Business, Marketing, Management, Tourism, Fitness, etc., are the most popular with more flexibility than other courses, and offer several intakes dates per year. You will need to plan a budget of minimum $400 per month in Sydney.

If you opt for the student visa to stay longer in Australia, you will need to apply for a full time course of at least 3 months but there is no maximum duration. Moreover, you will have to pay for an health insurance (OSHC) for the length of your visa if you decide to stay longer in Australia as it is a requirement of the student visa.

If you plan to stay longer in Australia, you can include your partner (husband/wife/de-facto and/or kids) on your student visa and pay for only one visa for the whole family. Conditions apply.

It is not recommended to apply for a long term visa at the end of a Tourist Visa as, while your application is being assessed (which can take a few months), you will automatically be granted a Bridging Visa which will keep the work conditions of your previous visa. This means that you will not be able to work.
